Blog on the Move!

12 Aug

A Sharper Focus Blog is now at: www.asharperfocusblog.com

That’s right, I’m moving! Last fall I took a web design class so that I could customize my blog more and expand my web capabilities. After a summer of working on the new blog, I’ve moved the blog from a wordpress.com site to a wordpress.org site and am ready for you to join me. Come on over and don’t forget to press the Follow button on the bottom right to stay connected!

Dear Blog, Please don’t feel neglected…

15 Jun

It has been too long, I will admit. I have neglected to update, with the end of the school year, me finding and getting a new job (!!!) … the list could go on. This doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking about you though. I have some big plans for you this summer. But, before that, we need to work on catching up. I have a March, April and May update in the works and some fun new crafts and recipes to share!

First things first though: this weekend is Father’s Day! A few weeks ago I decided to start doing #tbt (Throw Back Thursday) on Instagram. I love looking through old pictures, so this has really just been an excuse to spend lots of time perusing old photo albums.

I realized a few years ago I posted quite a few pictures of my mom and me for Mother’s Day, but hadn’t done the same for my Dad. So, here are a few I’ve rediscovered.

Thanks Dad for all of the great memories! I love you!

A New Do!

15 Mar

I did it! I cut off 12 inches of my hair this week. A few years ago I had decided I really wanted to grow out my hair to donate. It had been long enough to donate for a while now, but I had kind of gotten attached to it. However, these past few months I had been growing weary of my super long locks and knew it was ready to make the cut. They were weighing me down and hopefully now they will bring a smile to someone else.

If you’re interested in donating your hair here’s a link to Pantene Pro-V’s Beautiful Lengths program, where I’m sending my hair. This program makes wigs for women battling cancer to help bring them hope, which I think is pretty awesome.

Happy New Year!

12 Jan

I hadn’t realized it had been so long since I posted. I think I’ve written a dozen posts in my head as I’ve tried to fall asleep at night over the last month, but as you can see, none of them have made it past that stage. The prospect of the new year has also been one of the reasons I haven’t posted. The ‘fresh’ start combined with all of the other things I hope to accomplish this year, I was overwhelmed. This has lead to procrastination and the longer I wait to start the more ashamed I feel that I haven’t been more on-the-ball, totally negating the earlier idea of a ‘fresh’ start. Ridiculous I know.

The weekend before New Years our pastor mentioned this Workbook as a great way to reflect on the past year and help to plan and focus your goals for 2013. Sean and I both decided to go through the workbook and then share our thoughts about the past year and the year ahead. I didn’t realized what a valuable practice this would be for me. 2012 was probably one of the most challenging years I have faced to date. It was so good to write simple facts from what I have learned about myself and what I want to let go of from the past year, also looking forward to all the possibilities the new year holds.

So, here I am posting, moving on, and looking forward.

I hope everyone is having a happy New Year and that you had a wonderful Holiday season and got to spend quality time with your friends and family. Over the past month Sean and I have been blessed to spend time with many dear friends and family members we don’t often get to see. I’m excited to share new posts about family, the holidays, photos, art and craft ideas, and delicious recipes with you as 2013 begins. And thanks for reading, even with my idiosyncrasies, after all–life would be boring without them!
