Crawfish Time

Our local grocery store, HEB, was having crawfish on sale this week for 1.99 a pound. Sean had been talking about crawfish for a while now so I thought this was a good opportunity to have our own little crawfish boil. I had never cooked anything that was still alive before so I was a little nervous, but it all seemed to go well. At least for us, not so much for this guy who was trying to escape.

We were pretty careful with the amount of spice we put in the boil since this was our first try. It tasted good, but we both think we will make it spicier when we make it again.

    Gotta say, crawfish are one thing I DON’T miss about living in Texas. I am obviously of the minority opinion, but man, they freak me out! Glad you survived the experience of cooking something alive and moving.

    Dad says he hopes you know not to eat the ones are not curled up. That means they were dead before you boiled them.

      Actual transcription: Throw that one out!
      Sarah: But It’s so cuuuute!
      Sean: That fool died long before our boil. He’s gotta go!

    Sarah, they’re not my favorite but mostly because they are a lot of work for a little bit of meat. Thanks Mom, Dad and Sean for saving me from the perils of pre-dead crawfish.
